If it was me I would expect to have to pay for a meal. But it never hurts to contact the owner or manager and see what if anything can be done. If your coming with a larger group in my mind I dont see it being a problem as a group can still turn a profit even with one comped meal. I would definitely contact them first. Remeber this may sound a little harsh but it's not their fault she lost it. Maybe they can back track the free meal voucher I'm not really sure.
